Bishopsteignton Away Match Report

12 players along with their fan club (thanks for the support) travelled to Bishopsteignton for the last away match for Christow in this season Teignbridge League. The first session saw Ava, Sean & Ian playing on mat 1 and Chloe, Brad & Jim on mat 2. Both mats are quite slow and have the slight quirks you would expect from a village hall with a wooden floor. Ian and his team played a good game but to their frustration so did Bishops who did not allow them to settle into the game. Jim's team started strongly and pulled out an 8 - 3 lead by the 7th end and managed to win the game by 4 shots. After tea and biscuits session 2 got underway with Mary, Geoff & Neil on mat 1 and Maureen, Ralph & Trevor on mat 2. Neil's team got off to a good start by scoring 5 shots on the 2nd end which helped them maintain the lead through the match and finished with a 4 shot advantage. Trevor and his team got off to a positive start and had a good battle and pushed bishops to the final end, but were unfortunate to loose the match by 1 shot. A very enjoyable evening despite the result.

Points score:  Christow 4 Bishops 6
Session 1.
Mat 1 - Christow 4 Bishops 19    Mat 2 - Christow 11 Bishops 7
Session 2.

Kingsteignton Home Match Report

last night it was the turn of Kingsteignton to visit Christow to do battle in the Teignbridge League. Christow went into the match in 3rd place on the league table, 3 points behind 2nd placed Bishopsteignton but with 2 games in hand and 13 points behind Abbotskerswell with the same number of matches played. A win on all 4 mats and the bonus points was what Christow needed to keep the pressure on Abbots and that is just what they did. Derek, Brad and Jim on mat 2 played a great game scoring heavily early on in the game and kept the lead to the finish after Kingsteignton rallied in the closing stages. Chris, Ian and Tom on mat 1 did not allow Kingsteignton to get settled and dominated the match, although their skip Andy did put up some resistance later on in the game. After the tea break it was the turn of Ralph, Geoff and Neil on mat 2 and Beryl, Sean and Trevor on mat 1.both teams won their matches with very similar margins in the final score that were seen in the first session. The results show that mat 1 is more of a challenge to visiting players. Well done Christow.......see you at Bishopsteignton on Sunday. 😮"COME ON CHRISTOW".
