Christow Derby - Exeter League

Christow C were the home team in last nights clash with Christow B in the Exeter League. Chloe, Brad and Jim elected to play on the mat by the kitchen against Sean, Edwin and Geoff. Being slower and very much an unknown compared to the other mats on offer. It was a case of who got to grips with the weight and lines first. The honours went to the B team winning by 14 shots to 5. Well done to the B team.

Competitions Page Updated - 3 Jurassic Tournaments

Details of three competitions being run at Cloakham, Axminster by Jurassic Bowls later this year, have been added to the Competitions page.

Jurassic Bowls - Trippples Tournament 03 Feb 19

Organisers of the above competition have received a couple of team withdrawals from the tournament. Naturally this leaves an in-balance in the groupings. Whilst they will overcome the dilemma it would be good if clubs could help by getting some of their bowlers to enter a late team.

Exeter Nomads Competitions

Details have been received of two competitions being held at Exeter Nomads. They are a Triples and Mixed Fours in May and July respectively. You can find more information on both competitions by clicking on the Competitions link. As always please let me know if you require an application form.

Teignbridge League Teams Announced

Teams for the next two Teignbridge League matches (Kingsteignton away 7th Feb & Abbots home 13th Feb) can be found on the Teignbridge League Fixtures page.

Teignbridge League Meeting + Fours Date Change

The next Teignbridge League meeting will be held on Monday 11th February commencing at 7.30pm. As usual the venue will be Buckfast Community Hall. Please note, the date for the Teignbridge Fours competition has been moved from the 9th to 16th March.

Christow C v Broadclyst A Result

Marcus, Brad & Jim (Christow C) hosted Broadclyst A yesterday evening in the Exeter League. The match was played on the mat nearest the kitchen. This was a good move on Christow's part as Broadclyst were unable to get to grips with the mat. Christow scored on all but two ends and finished the match with a very impressive score of 24 - 2. Well done Christow. A win against Nomads A on Friday evening could see the C team move into 2nd place on the League table. Good luck for that.

Christow A v Nomads A Result

Nomads A (Ray, Richard & Rob) visited Christow this evening to do battle with Christow A (Tom, Trevor & Steve). Both teams picked up shots over the first 5 ends to keep the score close. Christow then went away from Nomads and cruised to a convincing victory. The final score was 19 - 7 to Christow. Well done, great result.

Silverton Charity Triples 9th March

Christow players have enquired to see if there are any places available at Silverton's Charity Triples Competition in March. Danny has been in contact and unfortunately they are fully booked. He will let us know if a place becomes available should anyone withdraw from the competition.

Christow C v Exminster A Result

Also last night Christow C (Ralph, Chloe & Ian) were playing in the Exeter League. Their match was away to Exminster A. Christow won the first end and up to the 12th end the scoring was fairly even with both teams going into the 13th end on 9 shots each. This end had a little drama attached to it. Christow were holding shot when Ken Beer (Exminster) fired and hit the block. Unfortunately the wood was not stopped in time and destroyed the head.  At that point Christow had been holding one shot. After some discussions it was agreed to replay the end. This turned out to be a good decision for Christow as Ian and his team picked up 4 shots. Both teams shared the final 2 ends and scored one shot each. The final score was 14 - 10 to Christow. Well done Guys.

Christow A v Wonford A Result

Last night Christow A (Trevor, Tom & Steve) played Wonford A at home. They match was played on the new fast mat. Christow dominated the match from start to finish and won by 17 shots to 2. Well done Christow. A win against Nomads A in their next match on Wednesday evening also at home, could see the A team move a couple of places up the league table. Exminster A loosing their match last night against the B team will help. Report on this match to follow.

Christmas at the Golf Club

On behalf of all Christow members, thank you to Steve and Wendy for organising a very nice Christmas meal at the Teign Valley Golf club last night.  lovely food an company of which there was plenty of both. All finished off with 20 questions from the quiz master himself and a solo performance from Ava.

County Tens Christow v Bere Alston Report

Christow travelled to Bere Alston this morning to play the return match in this seasons County Championships competition. Having both won 2 matches when we met in November at Christow, we arrived with a 9 shot advantage, so it was all to play for. The Singles and Fours started the proceedings, it was not a great start for Christow with both matches being won by Bere Alston. They also picked up the 9 shots they needed to level the overall standings. Then it was the turn of the Pairs and Triples with all to play for. The Pairs won a close fought game by 5 shots and on the second mat the Triples had the luxury of playing the final end with a 7 shot advamtage. The final result from the two meetings gave Christow a narrow win by 11 shots. Well done to all involved. Keep 6th April free in your diary's for the Finals at ISCA. Another great result for Christow after playing on the challenging mats at Exminster. We managed to take 8 out of the 10 points on offer. Teams and results are as follows:
