News regarding County Singles and Pairs 15th - 16th October

The County Singles qualifiers taking place on the 15th of October players are asked to bring their own food which can be consumed on the premises, this is due to there being a big function in the restaurant area.
The County Pairs taking place on the 16th of October is also the same day as the Exeter half marathon with road closures likely to affect travel, please bear this in mind as competitions need to start on time due to venue hire.

County Fours Competition

The new season of County & National Competitions gets under way this weekend at ISCA. It starts on Saturday 24th with the Fours. Christow have 3 teams representing the club, captained by, Geoff, Edwin & Steve. Brad & Ralph Rundle will be playing their first County games for Christow after joining the club earlier in the year. Tom & Carol Archer are playing for Totnes Creameries. Good luck to all involved. A round up of how they all got on will follow as soon as the information becomes available.
After group stages and knockouts the final was between Bow skipped by Nick Wyatt and last years winners from Musbury and Wonford skipped by James Smith. After a good start Michael Ivings Paul Pomeroy James Trott and James Smith retained their title with a 16-0 win.

Exeter League Update from the AGM

The first of this seasons Exeter League AGM was held on Thursday 15th September at St Thomas Cricket Club. The meeting started at 7.30pm and was well attended with representatives from all Clubs.
The main news of interest was the inclusion of all teams from both divisions paying in the League Knock Out Cup. The competition will be included in the fee for the regular League for this year as it is has been included to add some extra interest through the season. Each division will be drawn to play on a knockout basis against their own division teams. The first team drawn will be the home team and arrange to play the match on one of there club nights. The 1st round is to be player week commencing 17th October...Quarter Finals w/c 17th December....Semi Finals w/c 23rd January and the Final w/c 6th March. Winners from each division will then play against each other on a friendly basis. It was also proposed that a cup for the winners of each division could be awarded.

LEAGUE K.O CUP is a team event with players only playing for the team that they are registered with & will be played with one Triples (Two woods each over 10 ends and TWO Trial Ends will be played. The result decided by total shots for, in the event of a draw an extra end will be played. AII matches will be played on the weeks allocated on the fixture list. There will be NO CANCELLING or RE-ARRANGING of these matches.

Entries for the Win Graham Shield close on 1st November.

WIN GRAHAM SHELD (6's) is a club competition. Only One Team can be entered from the Club and any eligible members may be played as long as they are Registered at the start of the season. Each match will consist of One Team of Triples, (Two woods each) One Team of pairs, (Two woods each and One Singles player (Four woods each). It will be played on an Home & Away basis over 10 ends for each discipline starting with the Home teams jack first. The Winners will be the team with the Highest shots for over the Two legs. If a draw after the Home and Away matches the Triples to play an extra end to decide Winners.

There  will  be  a  meeting  held   Thursday  15^th  September  2016  at St  Thomas  Cricket  Club  7-30pm.  Please make sure your team is represented at the meeting.

Britain v Cancer Charity Bowls Competition held on Sunday 4th September 2016

Christow Short Mat Bowls Club held a charity competition on Sunday 4th September. The competition consisted of 22 teams of 3 players, each playing 4 games of 10 ends. The top 3 teams of the day were determined by points and shot difference. A certificate and cash prize were awarded to these teams, £45 to the winners. £30 to the runners up and £15 for third place. The day was a great success and all the ladies in the canteen kept the tea and coffee flowing all day and served everyone a lovely meal with help from Janice Preston, Marilyn Tregillus & Chloe Rundle. There was also a raffle which was run by Barry Stevens and raised over £200. Money raised overall for the charity was a fantastic £862. Here are a few pictures from the day....
