County Match In Dorset Report

Today 24th September the County team travelled to Dorset for the next round in the Inter County Championships. Players from Christow were involved, Steve,Trevor and Mark in the Premier team with Ian, Tom, Jim & Neil in the A team. The final scores were:

New Date for Teign Valley Triples

The Teign Valley Charity Triples will be taking place at Christow on Saturday 18th November.

On Sunday 19th November there is a Singles Tournament being held by East Devon Jurassic Bowls at Cloakham Axminster.. Early next year South Brent will be running their Charity Fours Tournament which they sadly had to cancel last year due to lack of interest. This year it will be on Sunday 25th February. Mentioning Training Evening with Prizes

How do you feel about a training evening this Wednesday with amazing prizes for the winning team . We can all benefit from some practice playing to unusual and difficult jack positions, especially now that the Devon County matches are under way and the Singles just a few days away.

County Home Match against Somerset Report

On Sunday 17th September Devon met Somerset at ISCA for their first match in the 2017/18 season. Players from Chritow were present in the Premier and A teams line up. Steve,Trevor & Mark were playing for the Premier team and Ian & Neil for the A team. Devon Premier were defeated 27-13 by Somerset but Devon A won 25-15  Devon will travel to Dorset next Sunday for their next match.

County Fours Report

On Saturday 16th September 2 teams from Chistow took part in the County Fours at ISCA. Three groups of four and one group of three battled away over three games to win the group or finish second. Geoff, Maureen, Beryl and Sean won one of their three matches after playing Totnes Creameries and the eventual winners Musbury or Yarnscombe? Elliot James, Paul Pomeroy etc. The second team from Christow...Steve, Ian, Trevor & Neil won two for their group matches and drew the third which put them into the quarter finals after finishing second in the group. Here they met Eric Pavey's team from Sidbury which saw them get knocked out after a close game.

No Bowls on Sunday 17th September

There will be no Bowls at Christow on Sunday 17th September. Normal service will resume on Wednesday 20th.

Exeter League Meeting Report

A meeting was held on 7th September at St Thomas Cricket Club in Exeter. As usual the meeting was very short. Score cards along with the schedule and amended rules were handed to each club representative. The draw for the first round of the Knockout Cup took place. Six teams were drawn to play the first round week commencing 30th October.

The date of the next meeting is Thursday 26th October at the same venue. It is expected that this will be the last of the year.

Good evening of Bowls with Bishopsteignton

Thank you to Bishopsteignton for an entertaining evening of bowls on Wednesday. Four mats were in use and swapping mats after 10 ends challenged us all as the mats are so different.

Teign Valley Triples

The Teign Valley Triples due to be held on Saturday 4th October has had to be rescheduled. This is due to availability issue with the hall. The revised date will be posted when it has been confirmed.

Friendly with Bishopsteignton

Bishopsteignton will be sending 6 or 7 players to Christow on Wednesday 6th September for a game or two of friendly bowls. Could you please wear your club uniform....thanks.
