Jurassic Inter Area Challenge

On Sunday 8th September several members from Christow travelled to Cloakham, Axminster to take part in the Jurassic Inter Area Challenge and represent South Devon.

Other teams that took part in the Competition were North Devon, East Devon, Dorset, Portsmouth, England Ladies and the Jurassic team.

Teams of fours,triples and pairs from each area played five matches of eight ends with points being combined to give an overall result.

As a Charity Competition £900 was raised for Mental Health in Young people.

Dorset eventually came through as the winners.

Better Luck to South Devon for next year.
 

South Brent Friendly

The South Brent Friendly return match will take place on the following dates:

Friday 27th September, 10.00am start
and 
Sunday 27th October, 3.00pm start..

Margaret Elliot Pairs

On Saturday 7th September two teams from Christow took part in the Margaret Elliot Pairs competition at ISCA.

Teams were Sue & Geoff and Steve & Marcus.

Steve & Marcus and Sue & Geoff were successful in their matches in the morning and went through to the Cup competition in the afternoon.

In the cup competition Steve & Marcus played John & Rita from Bow and lost by one shot.

Sue & Geoff won their match and went through to the Semi Final where they faced Barry and Richard from Nomads. They lead up to the last two ends after which Barry and Richard went ahead.

Eventual winners were:

George & Tony Main who beat Barry & Richard.

Plate:  

Sharon & Charlie from Wick who overcame Jenny & Lynne from Colebrook.


Well done to the teams from Christow. A great day's bowling was had by all.

Devon County/National Draw Details

The draw details for the Devon County and National competitions at ISCA have been added to the Devon County Competitions page. You will find them listed below the Diary of Events. They also include the team details where appropriate under each section.

Sunday Bowling Postponed to 15th September.

Due to matches taking place on 7th and 8th September it has been decided to postpone the start of Sunday bowling until the 15th September.

Christow South Brent Friendly - 14th August

Seventeen members from South Brent travelled to Christow to play in this friendly competition.

With all six mats laid out a series of fours and pairs matches were played.
After eighteen ends, where each team played in two matches, an excellent buffet tea was served.

Thank you to Trevor for organising this evening and for everyone who helped and brought food.

A great evening.

07/08/19 Mark Allen Sadly Passes Away

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Allen who sadly passed away on Saturday 3rd August, the funeral will be held at Mullion Church in Cornwall on 15th August at 10.30am, bowling attire is welcomed from anyone wishing to attend. 

Christow South Brent Friendly 14th August

On Wednesday 14th August a friendly competition has been arranged with South Brent at Christow.
Members need to be at the club by 6:30 pm for a prompt start at 6:45 pm.
Volunteers please at 6:15 pm to help put the mats out.

Please bring along sandwiches, sausage rolls etc to be enjoyed during the evening.

County/National Draw Details

The Devon Competition draw will take place at ISCA after the County squad day on the 11^th August at 4:30pm. Preliminary rounds are needed in the Singles, Pairs and Triples due to the amount of entries. Players will be randomly drawn into the morning and afternoon session.  A draw will then take place at the start of play to determine groups. There is no need for a preliminary round in the Fours. On the 11th September there will also be a draw for the County team championship.

Due to the draw being done before start of play it is imperative that players turn up to events promptly at the designated time (9am for morning sessions and 1:15pm for afternoon sessions) so that we can start promptly.

Sunday Bowling to Start 8th September

New bowling season to start on Sunday 8th September 7 - 9:30 PM.

Devon County Open Two Wood Pairs Competition 2019

On Saturday 20th July the inaugural Devon County Open Two Wood Pairs Competition was held at ISCA. The competition featured thirty-two pairs of players.

Several pairs were entered from Christow.
Trevor and Steve worked their way through to the last sixteen.

The Cup

Sean and Brad played well and reached the quarter final stage finishing top of their group.
Marie Toleman (Wonford) and Ava came through the early rounds winning through to the Semi Final.
The cup final was between Lorraine Axtell and Graham James and Benny Bass and Maddie Edmondson, being won by Lorraine and Graham.

The Plate 

Geoff and Neil reached the final of the plate where they played Graham and Diane Shepherd.
After four ends they found themselves tied with 3 shots each.
Eventually Geoff and Neil pulled ahead winning by 8 shots to 5 after the full ten ends.

Congratulations to all players that took part.
A splendid day was had by all.

Teignbridge League

Due to work commitments Brad will be standing down as Teignbridge League Captain with immediate effect.

Brad would like to wish Jim and the club every success in retaining the cup this year.
