Christow Community Hall unavailable for Bowls: 27th March - 3rd April

 Just to let all members know as the hall is booked for other purposes there will be no bowling at Christow from Sunday 27th March to Sunday 3rd April inclusive. 

No Bowls at Christow on Wednesday 23rd February - Totnes Friendly Match Away

 As a significant no. of Christow members are involved in the away match with Totnes on 23rd February our hall booking at Christow for that evening has been cancelled.   

Totnes Friendly Match 16th February - Re-scheduled

 Ladies and Gents,

Just to let you know that after discussion with Totnes our Friendly match with them has been re-scheduled to the 23rd.

Hopefully Edwin will be feeling better then and well enough to join us.

Totnes Friendly Match - January 30th - Results

Christow played host to Totnes Creameries on Sunday January 30^th for a friendly match.

 

Held over 2 sessions of 4 triples, either side of tea, the game overall was a closely fought affair.

 

Christow had the upper hand in the first session, winning 2 games, losing one, with one game drawn. Overall points for the first session were Christow 41 – Totnes 36.

 

Christow lost momentum after tea going down 3 to 1 in games, with the overall points of Christow 42 -  Totnes 48.

 

Over both sessions, Totnes won on points by a single shot…. 83 – 84 in their favour.

 

An enjoyable afternoon, with the away match to look forward to on Wednesday February 16^th (see separate post below).

The competition will be straight knock-out. The first 2 rounds to be played on February 2nd and the final on 9th of February 2022. Please ensure you attend on the required dates!!

4)     Skips can visit the head

5)     Jack off the mat, 2 shot penalty and end replayed

6)     Foot faults can be called! (be careful)

7)     All other rules as per ESMBA

In-House Pairs Competition 2022

As mentioned the pairings for the pairs competition were to be drawn at random. The pairings where drawn by Alan last night, so all complaints to Alan

On February 2^nd we will play the first and Second rounds, followed by the semi finals and the final on February 9^th. The number of ends, along with the other rules, are still to be decided. The allocation of mats along with who is designated as the home team will be decided as part of the draw, i.e. if F is drawn against C then F is the home team and can decide on who has the first jack. The first match drawn will be on mat 1 and so on, with the second round games using different mats.

Ladies and Gents you will probably be aware of the changes from Tuesday, announced by the Prime Minister, to assist with our fight against the new Covid-19 Omicron variant.
