Devon County A Team Win ICC Rinks Final

Three players from Christow, Ian, Jim and Neil joined 13 other players from Devon clubs and represented the Devon County A team in the ICC Rinks Finals at Daventry Indoor Bowling Club. The eight County qualifiers from the Preliminary rounds back in early December were split into 2 groups with the winners of each group going through to the final. The format for the Rinks is a Fours competition with 4 teams from each County. Devon were drawn with West Midlands, Hertfordshire and Kent. The second group draw saw Dorset, Essex, Somerset and Surrey play three games two before lunch and one after. Devon won their group by winning all three matches by collating more shots overall than their opponents on all 4 mats. Somerset who won the event last year, came out top in their group. The final was set for a showdown between two  teams from the Southwest of England. During the final Richard Ivings kept an eye on the overall shots being scored on all four mats as he had done in the earlier rounds. The score during the final was up one minute then down the next, but never by more than a few shots. After all matches finished their games, Devon won the final by 4 shots. A great result for Robert Ivings (manager/player) and all his team.
